Volunteer spotlight
Bonnie Lake
Administrative and Collections Volunteer
Bonnie is a treasure. Her enthusiasm and energy for every task assigned to her is a joy to behold. It is difficult to truly express just how valuable Bonnie’s willingness to learn and contribute to whatever project needing attention, at any given time, has meant to the Society. We value Bonnie, her time and dedication to the Society, as well as her dedication to her family.
Tanvir's Story
Tanvir Khondakar is a web designer and developer based out of Minneapolis. He is a huge history buff with a love for historical documentaries. This passion for the past is reflected in his design work which looks to blend the old with the new. This is prominently showcased in his work on the KHS website.
Tanvir found himself volunteering with the KHS in an unusual manner. As an active volunteer on Catchafire (a digital volunteering platform), Tanvir ran across an odd request posted by Delia from KHS in May 2019. The KHS website had vanished overnight and seemed unrecoverable. Intrigued by the mystery, Tanvir quickly messaged Delia and was able to recover the website that night. Since then Tanvir has been working closely with Delia and the other members of KHS to bring this new and improved website to life.
Marl Mazo

Catchafire Volunteer
Both Tanvir and Marl are professional volunteers with Catchafire, an organization comprised of volunteers throughout the world who contribute their expertise and time to assist nonprofits. Kauaʻi Historical Society has been blessed by the sponsorship of the Hawaii Community Foundation which allows us to utilize these skills and talents.
Like Tanvir, Marl is a Website Designer and Developer who provided his services to improve our website. He has provided provide training to staff that has been invaluable for keeping our website current and informative. Words cannot express the degreee of appreciation we have for Catchafire volunteers who have made it possible for us to provide you with such a robust and interactive website.
Mahalo nui to Hawaii Community Foundation, Catchafire, Tanvir Khondakar, and Marl Mazo for improving this vehicle of communication.
